The Cocke County Partnership Executive Committee meeting Thursday was told by President Lucas Graham that progress on the new Highway 25E industrial park is coming along well. However, he is hoping the location will not be called an industrial park because a number of non-industrial enterprises want to locate there.
“I hope when the CLB (county legislative body) picks a name it will be an innovation park, and we will be able to move forward with that,” said Graham. Earth is expected to be moved at the site before Thanksgiving.
Graham went on to say the federal Economic Development Administration has yet to approve an anticipated infrastructure grant for the site.
“We had applied for a $3 million grant but the agency ran out of money. They did like our application and asked us to reapply and they will consider it in the current budget.”
